The Team
HeronPark LLC is a group of investors and technical experts who have teamed with civil engineering leader Tetra Tech to restore Ross Island and turn it into a publicly owned nature preserve. Gary Keyes, a longtime environmental engineer and vice president at Tetra Tech, is the manager of HeronPark LLC. He brings extensive experience with the reclamation and restoration of rivers, estuaries, mines, industrial facilities, and brownfield sites, as well as expertise in regulatory collaboration, community engagement, and technical solutions.
HeronPark has entered into a purchase and sale agreement with the R.B. Pamplin Corporation, the current owner of Ross Island, which provides HeronPark the option to acquire the property and reclaim it.
HeronPark and Tetra Tech are engaging with multiple regulatory agencies to determine the permitting requirements for the reclamation.
